FIRST DRAFT: A DIALOGUE ON WRITING

First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing is a literary podcast produced and hosted by Mitzi Rapkin. Each week the podcast features an in-depth interview with a fiction, non-fiction, essay, or poetry writer. The show is equal parts investigation into the craft of writing and conversation about the topics of an author’s work.

The first episode aired on Aspen Public Radio on June 3, 2013 and migrated to the podcast platform in 2015. New episodes come out every Monday. First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing is pleased to partner with Literary Hub.

Some of the goals of the podcast are to offer a platform for writers to discuss their work in a meaningful way and to offer writers and readers access to conversations about books and craft they won’t find elsewhere.

ABOUT MITZI RAPKIN

Like many avid readers, as a child Mitzi Rapkin hid under the covers with a flashlight at night (way) past her bedtime to read just one more page. She’s not above that tactic now. Sometimes she even reads while walking down the street. (Hey, it’s better than texting.) She prefers paperback over hardcover; physical books over digital; dark chocolate over milk; and Dr. Seuss over any other doctor ever.

First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing is a perfect outlet that combines Mitzi’s natural love of reading and writing, curiosity about how people view the world, and her BA in English (Indiana University), MS in Journalism (Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University), and MFA in Fiction (Warren Wilson College).

Mitzi lives near (but not in) Aspen, Colorado. Her shelves are teeming with books and her yard is overgrown with weeds (due to all the reading)!
